The Libbey House at 2008 Scottwood Avenue was built in 1895 at the cost of $10,000.  The 1896 Polk City Directory listed Edward Libbey as the president of the Libbey Glass Company and the Toledo Glass Company. Libbey's biography appear in Toledo & Lucas County Vol. 3 on page 5 and Memoirs of Lucas County and the City of Toledo page 49.   Mr. Libbey and his wife Florence (Scott) employed Anna Malone as a domestic in 1896 while Mary Hansen served the family in later years.
