2109 Scottwood in 1900 was the home of Arland Johnson, an architect with the firm of Wachter, Hudson & company.  The 1910 Polk City Directory listed Frank Jones as the resident while the 1918 city directory listed Ralph Caples who had his office in the Valentine Building and Samuel Rothfuss, the president of the Rothfuss Brothers Company which dealt in farm lands.
