616 Acklin was served by live-in domestic Harriet Dwinell in 1900.  The 1910 Polk City Directory listed William Downing, a travel agent (salesman) as the resident of this house.  The 1921 and 1924 city directories liste Malcolm Smith and his wife Frances (Southard) Smith as the occupants.  Mr. Smith was the president of the M. H. Smith Lithographing Company located at Summit and Mulberry.  His biography appeared in Toledo and Lucas County Vol. 2 on page 247.
