540 Collins was home to George Welles according to the 1910, 1918 and 1921 city directories. Mr. Welles who was a lawyer was the subject of several biographies. One biography and his personal photograph appeared in Toledo & Lucas County Supplement on page 73. A second biography appeared in Maumee Valley, Toledo and the Sandusky Region Vol. 4 on page 176. His wife was Mae (Hunker) Welles. George Welles Jr. was their son. Another resident in 1921 was Herman Arenson of the Toledo Iron & Supply Company. Mr. Arenson who became the president of the Toledo Machinery Exchange, his wife Pearl, and son William Arenson lived here in 1924. | |||||
