The 1917-1921 city directories listed the occupant of 17 Proctor Place as J. Proctor Coates, the real estate developer responsible for the improvements to Ryder's Addition.  Mr. Coates, formerly of 1524 Collingwood, replatted the tract.  The 1924 directory listed Dr. Dale Wilson and his wife Charlotte Wilson as the residents of this home.  Dr. Wilson who specialized in orthopedic sugery had his office at 320 Michigan.
