403 Winthrop-John Thomas Home
 
The John Thomas family lived at this home located at 403 Winthrop.  This view dates from 1901.  The house was built as early as 1896 when Charles Brownlee lived here.  Mr. Brownlee was a conductor with the Wabah Railroad and employed Anna Mickley as the family's domestic.  The 1900 city directory listed the occupant as Theodore Deardorff of the Toledo Rubber Company.  By the time that the 1910 city directory was published, the resident was John Thomas, a manufacturer's agent.  William Hillary lived here in 1918, but the 1935 directory lsited Arnold Nowak, a lawyer.
