The Historic Old West End in Toledo, Ohio - Glenwood Avenue



The 1910 Polk City Directory listed Theodore Hollander, a clerk, as the resident along with George Heyn, a special agent with the Aetna Life Insurance Company, as a boarder. A Roslie Heyn is also listed as a boarded in 1910. The 1918 city directory revealed that James Shea, a printer with the Times Publishing Comapny was the occupant along with Michael Shea,a roomer and foreman of Perfection Shirt Waist Company. Also, Ann Shea roomed here.

The Lucas County Auditor's records listed the construction year of 2560 Glenwood as 1913 on lot 129 of the Baldwin Heights Addition. Contractor Mano S Ramseyer built this home for Louis Comlossy at a cost of $3,500. Louis Comlossy, a jeweler at 613 Madsion Avenue,.was listed as the occupant of this house in both 1918 and 1921. A garage was constructed in 1919 at a cost of $200. Ralph Comlossy, a jeweler, roomed in this home. Jessie Comlossy was a music teacher who worked at 321.5 Huron Street. Alice, Arthur, Howard, George and Frank Comlossy also roomed here. William Gardiner, an agent with the New York Life Insurance Company, and his wife Marcella were the residents in 1935. Mr. Gardiner's biography appeared in Maumee Valley, Toledo and the Sandusky Region Vol. 3 on page 52. Their daughter was Joyce Gardiner.
