Built in 1902, the house at 540 Acklin Avenue was home to Frederick Finney, an accountant, according to the 1910, 1918, 1921 and 1924 city directories.  His wife was New York-born Gertrude Finney.  The 1918 directory listed Mary Finney, the 78 year-old widow of Henry Finney, as a roomer who was also born in New York.
