This photograph circa 1945 shows the home at 328 Batavia.  In 1891 it was the home of Pennysylvania-born William Hand who was a clerk with the L S & M S Railway. His wife was Cora Hand.  The 1900 directory listed student and son Eoline Hand as a boarder in the home.  The 1900 Census indicated that the Hands also had a 16 year old son by the name of Dericson Hand.  By the 1918 directory's publication, the new resident was Albert Carpenter, a lawyer whose office was lcoated in the Spitzer Building.
