439 Floyd was home to William Burgess, a foreman, in 1900. Martha Burgess, a teacher, and Margaret Burgess, a student, roomed here. Mrs. Ellen Snell was the resident by 1910. Frances Snell boarded here in 1910 as well as Margorie Snell, a stenographer with the National Union Senate. Ross Ayers, a moldmaker, was the occupant in 1921. The April 22, 1938 Toledo News-Bee reported that Mrs. Mae Smith of 439 Floyd took an oath of naturalization. Because she had married an alien before February 27, 1922 she had lost her citizenship. | |||||

Ebenerzer Ross lived here in 1891. The July 13, 1900 issue of the Toledo News-Bee advertised the ten-room house at 230 Floyd for rent. Interested parties were asked to apply at the premised of N. DeBree Jr. at the Postal Telegraph Office. The 1896 and 1900 Polk city directories listed Nathan Degree who lived at this address as the manager of the Postal Telegraph Cable Company at 412 Madison. Nathan DeBree Jr., an operator at that same establishment, boarded here in 1896 as did William DeBree, a telephone operator at W. G. Alexander. Mary DeBree, a bookkeeper, boarded here in 1900. The 1910 directory listed nurse Adelia English as working and boarding here,
