601 Stratford Place was constructed in 1911 at a cost of $4,000 by the local builder Jackson & Son. The 1918, 1921 and 1924 directories listed Earl Newcomer as the resident. He worked for M. F. Newcomer & Son which were drug stores located at 319 Summit and 701-03 Summit. By 1924 Earl Newcomer had become the director of the Department of Public Welfare for the City of Toledo. His wife was Ethel Newcomer. In 1924 their son Frank Newcomer, a clerk with the Toledo Trust Company, roomed here. Additionally, the 1921 directory listed Anna Beeley, a teacher, as a roomer in this home. | |||||
