The 1918, 1921 and 1928 city directories listed Sarah (Lingle) Mapes, the widow of Samuel Mapes, of 2853 Parkwood. Those three directories listed June Mapes as a roomer and public school teacher in 1918 but became the principal of Arlington School. Another roomer was Katherine Mapes, a nurse, who continued to live here and by 1935 was listed as the matron of Toledo Hospital. Her biography appeared in Toledo & Lucas County Vol. 3 on page 237. Ethel Mapes, a nurse, became the supervisor at the Old Adams Street Mission & Day Nursery. In 1921 teacher Eleanor Brown roomed here. | |||||
