2242 Robinwood was designed by Webster and built in 1892 at a cost of $10,000. The 1896 directory listed Benson McMechen, a credit manager for the Woolson Spice Company, as the resident. His occupation was listed as the vice-president of the Toledo Cold Storage Company in 1900. The October 31, 1900 issue of the Toledo News-Bee reported that Elizabeth McMechan had won first place in the paper's rebus contest. Birchard Hayes, the son of President Hayes, was the occupant according to the 1910 and the 1921 city directories.
