2556 Scottwood was constructed by contractor George Lathrop in 1906 at a cost of $3500.  The 1910 Polk City Directory listed Charles and Anna (Steinmetz) Owen as the residents.  Mr. Owen was a patent attorney.  His biography and personal photograph appeared in Toledo & Lucas County Vol. 3 on page 312.  In 1910, the city directory listed Lena Papenfuss as the live-in domestic.
