The Citizens Ice and Storage Company, incorporated in 1906, was located at 25 South Erie.  It was a retail outlet providing lake ice to the citizens of Toledo.  Blocks of ice, packed in sawdust, were stored within thick walls to slow the melting in the summer heat.  Horse-drawn wagons transported the blocks of ice into residential sections of Toledo where housewives could buy the size they needed to stock their wood refrigerators.  Thanks to Karen and Terry Tayor and her parents for this early view.
