The Cherry Street frontage had been zoned as commercial property since 1923. Later Bronson Place residents reached a zoning compromise with Toledo to rezone a 50' strip on either side of the entrance as residential. The Toledo Woman's Club which occupied the former Bronson mansion and the Union Central Life Assurance Company which owned the former King estate at 1 Bronson Place opposed the zoning change to part of their properties. At the time the former King home was rented to the Glengary Country Club and could not be rented for residential purposes. | |||||
