According to the Polk City Directory from 1910, the residents of this mansion were Charles and Dora Lewis and their family.  Mr. Lewis was a lawyer with Doyle & Lewis. In 1910 Anna Hayes and Minnie Gores served the family as live-in domestics while Leo Rothlesberger was the family chauffeur. By 1920, Dora was a widow.  From the mid-1920's up until the mid-1930's the home was occupied by the Janes-Franklin School.
