Carl E. Mehring was the founder of the Carl E. Mehring Company, 555-59 Spitzer Building, which advertised itself as "Builders and Architects". Mr. Mehring had his own architectural-design department which complimented his construction division. A "Mehring-Built Home" was considered to be a home of "originality, quality and character".
The homes on Lowell Drive west of Collingwood Boulevard and one block north of Central Avenue were constructed by the Carl E. Mehring Company.
