2001 Collingwood-Walter Stewart Home

The former Milmine Home, circa 1874, was one of the earliest mansions on Collingwood Avenue.  In 1917, Walter Stewart had the house remodeled into an Italian Renaissance-inspired palazzo seen in this image.  Mr. Stewart was the president/treasurer of the Walter Stewart Company and the vp of the Commercial Savings Bank.  His biography appeared in Toledo & Lucas County Vol. 2 on page 186.  His wife was Ann (Blackburn) Stewart.  Their children included  Carter and Robert.  Live-in maids included sisters Gertrude and Laura Roesner and Austria-born Antionette Kolar.
