2544 Scottwood

Built in 1906, 2544 Scottwood (lot 58) became home to George Lathrop and his wife Caroline.  Lathrop built his own home and others within the block in 1906 at a cost of $3500.  City directories listed the Lathrops here in 1907 and 1908.  The exterior appears to be a reverse image of 2405 Lawrence from which they had just moved.  The 1910-1921 Polk city directories revealed that Charles Brunson, a Central High School teacher, was a resident.  Teacher Louise Brunson roomed here.  The Dec. 7, 1918 issue of the Toledo News-Bee ran a photograph of a Scottwood house that appeared to be 2544.   It was for sale by the Thomas Davies Realty Company.  The house was said to be a modern 8-room residence within the Yaryan Heat District.
